I Found a Great Website to Explore Incredible Travel Destinations!
As adventurers, there are times we don’t have specific plans for a trip and just want to go out and explore somewhere. That’s totally the way to live and an absolutely amazing perspective!
I’m all for adventure and exploration.
The problem is, the majority of booking sites, airlines, and accommodations expect you to have all the details of your trip in order to conduct a search. This makes it tough to find travel destinations.
Airlines Want Details!
This has you browsing across different sites, picking the endless number of date combinations, adjusting your destinations, and spending more time coming up with the logistics of travel and budget than actually planning an itinerary and things to do.
HEY AIRLINES! Sometimes we just want to find cheap flights to exotic destinations sometime in the summer!
Flexible Booking Dates
What was that? Did they listen?
They did! Now a few airlines, like Delta, Lufthansa, and United allow you to see multiple dates when booking. So now, you don’t have to keep changing the search criteria to find the cheapest flights (which inevitably will change in price the next day).
This is amazing if you know where to go on vacation and have a specific window of time you’d like to visit.
Maybe you’re trying to go visit your family across the country for the holidays. Plop in a rough estimate of dates you’d like to visit them and pick the “flexible dates” option to see multiple departure and return flights with a few days of wiggle room here or there.

But what if you don’t want to see your family? (I don’t blame you, we all need vacations) Airlines still aren’t letting you just pick some dates and list out some possible destinations. That’s what travel agents are meant to be for.
The struggle for me was knowing how to choose where to go on vacation.
I just couldn’t for the life of me pick my next travel destination and start searching for flights, I wanted to be inspired (by cheap flights) and make something work.
How to Find Cheap Travel Destinations
On my quest to become a world traveler (while on a college student budget), I found a website that let me explore travel destinations worldwide. That website? Skyscanner.
You can discover where to find the best travel destinations on Skyscanner in an instant. It features an option to find flights from your home airport to everywhere. Not only that, but you can also search by large windows of time like a specific month!
This then gives you a list of destination countries sorted by price, where you can then search for cities to fly to and then specific flight dates. I’ve seen flights from New York to Costa Rica for under $300!
I use this site regularly to get inspiration for trips. It can sometimes be a bit finicky when continuing to purchase and it may take you to sites you’ve never even heard of, but this still gives you an opportunity to see a wide variety of options.
